Upcoming Changes for 2017-18 school year

posted Jun 28, 2017, 11:55 AM by Angela Garcia

First, we are proud to announce that our school has been accepted into the Innovation Zone, making Bessemer Academy one of the five Innovation Elementary Schools. Becoming an Innovation School provides us with additional supports and flexibility that will help our students achieve academic growth.

Next, as part of our change, Ms. Angela Flores has been named the Principal. She has served as Dean of Students at Bessemer Academy for the past 3 years and brings her 19 years of experience in education to the table.

Finally, our schedule will be changing with our new Innovation status. Students will be at school from 8:30 am -3:10 pm, Monday through Friday. There will no longer be an early release time on Friday.

A letter will be sent to each family explaining our Innovation Plan and other changes in more detail. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Flores at 719.549.7505.

The staff of Bessemer Academy is excited for these changes and are looking forward to a great school year!

Playground Fundraising

posted Dec 28, 2016, 10:44 AM by Angela Garcia

In an effort to purchase playground equipment that our Kindergarten-5th grade students can enjoy, we are going to be participating in a variety of fundraising activities.  Currently we are selling chocolate bars after school each day and have a "Pennies for the Playground" masterpiece located in our front entry way where you and our students can donate any spare change you may have. Our goal is to raise $45,000, so we need your help!  Please visit our PCS Website, look for flyers sent home, and visit our Bessemer Academy Facebook Page for updated information about upcoming fundraisers. To see a picture of the playground we would like to purchase, please open the file attached.
